Major Depression Participants Needed Now.

ARE YOU -

• Feeling consistently down or hopeless?

• Feeling much less interested in daily activities?

• Feeling tired, no energy with poor sleep?

• Having a hard time concentrating or making decisions?

• Eating too little or too much?

• Feeling guilty, or that life is not worth living?

If you answered “Yes” to some of these questions, you may be eligible to participate. Center for Healing the Human Spirit is conducting a clinical research study using 1 of 3 FDA-approved antidepressant medications for the treatment of Major Depression.

Applicants who quality to participate will receive a psychological evaluation, EEG and psychometrics assessments, study related laboratory test, personalized information about their depression treatment with medication and follow up interviews.

You may have your medication covered for up to 6 months, in addition to a small travel stipend OR you may be compensated up to $335.

YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU –

1. Meet the DSM-IV criteria for a primary diagnosis of Major Depression

2. Are willing to provide written and informed consent

3. Are Male or Female / Ages 18-65

4. Are fluent in English

YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU HAVE -

1. Any antidepressant drugs which cannot be washed out prior to participation

2. Any previous negative reaction to Lexapro, Zoloft or Effexor XR

3. Any medical condition or neurological disorder that would significantly interfere with assessments

4. A severe impairment of vision, hearing or hand movements

5. A brain injury or blow to the head that resulted in lost consciousness for 5 minutes or more

6. Recent or current substance dependence on alcohol or drugs (in the past 6 months)

7. Participation in another Study within the last 4 months

8. Suicidal ideations score > 8

9. Bipolar Disorder

10. Psychosis

11. PTSD

12. OCD

13. Primary Eating Disorder

14. ADHD (primary diagnosis over MDD)

15. Anxiety (primary diagnosis over MDD)

16. Axis II Personality Disorders

17. Pregnancy, breastfeeding or wish to become pregnant
